Maren Oates<\/a><br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Schack Art Center, Studios 1 and 2<\/p><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Learn how to create unique monoprints without a press using a gel printing plate. In this class, we'll use an 8\" x 10\" gel plate with acrylic paint, found textures, and DIY stencils and stamps. We'll work to create prints that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also wonderful for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: start; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has minimal setup and is easy to do almost anywhere.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: start; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Students will learn:<\/p><ul data-rte-list=\"true\"><li><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Techniques for creating layered prints using a gel plate and acrylic paint.<\/p><\/li><li><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">How to use homemade stencils/masks and found objects to create interesting textures in your prints.<\/p><\/li><li><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">A basic understanding of how different paints and papers may impact your finished prints.<\/p><\/li><li><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">How to use, care for, and store a gel printing plate.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: start; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Students will create monoprints and a variety of printed papers using a gel plate.
