Shannon Danks<\/a><br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Schack Art Center, Flame and Kiln Studio<\/p><p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">In this creative workshop, students will design and craft their own garden mosaic bricks by applying colorful glass tiles directly onto classic clay bricks. Participants will learn the basics of mosaic layout, cutting, adhesion, and grouting as they create unique, weather-resistant pieces perfect for decorating garden beds, pathways, or outdoor spaces. Maren Oates<\/a><\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><strong>Location:<\/strong> Schack Art Center, Printmaking Studio<\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><span>In this workshop, students will be introduced to Gel Plate Printmaking using an 8\" x 10\" gel plate and acrylic paint. We’ll learn to work with leaves, ferns, branches, and flowers to build unique botanical gel prints. Our goal will be to create botanical monoprints and monotypes that can stand on their own, but gel-printed papers are also excellent material for collages, cards, art journals, or other mixed-media projects.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><span>Unlike many traditional printmaking techniques, gel printing has a minimal setup and does not require the use of a press, making it possible to do it from almost anywhere.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: start; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Students will learn:<\/p><ul data-rte-list=\"true\"><li><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><span>A basic understanding of how paints and papers may impact gel prints, including thick vs. thin papers, opaque vs. transparent layers, and “What is the right amount of paint?”<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><span>• How to use botanical items, such as leaves, ferns, and flowers as textures and masks for gel printing.<\/span><\/p><\/li><li><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\"><span>• How to clean, care for, and store a gel printing plate.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: start; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">All supplies are included, but an apron is recommended.
