Students will use a bench-mounted torch and rods of borosilicate glass to learn how to carefully melt glass and shape a gather of glass into an icicle. After completing some basic clear icicles, the process of applying some stripes of color will be covered.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align:start;white-space:pre-wrap;\" class=\"\"><span style=\"color: rgb(31, 31, 31)\">Students will learn how to safely light and use a bench-mounted torch. Staci Adman<\/a><br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Schack Art Center, Flame &amp; Kiln Studio<\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Learn the art of creating small glass pumpkins by heating glass rods with a bench-mounted torch and transferring the molten glass onto the end of a stainless steel mandrel. Master the skill of controlling the glass and forming it into a sphere, which you will then shape into a pumpkin while it is still molten. This workshop serves as a great introduction to the basics of manipulating hot glass on a very small scale.<\/p><p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Students will gain confidence in lighting a lampworking torch, melting \"soft glass\" rods in the flame, transferring glass onto a mandrel, making a round glass shape, and shaping glass with a blade.
